UNCHARTED ECHOES

AB-ANBAR GALLERY

GROUP EXHIBITION | CURATED BY BARTOMEU MARI

7 – 30 SEPTEMBER 2023

“Uncharted Echoes” represents a significant milestone in Ab-Anbar’s evolution, showcasing a collection of artworks by seventeen artists from its roster that pays homage to its Tehran roots while embracing new collaborations. The exhibition serves as a creative conduit for artists to explore universal themes of identity, heritage, and the ever-evolving present, as well as delving into the impact of globalisation on artistic expression, recognising the diverse characteristics and perspectives that emerge from different geographies. Against the backdrop of the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID19 pandemic, the exhibition takes on added significance, presenting an opportunity to reflect on the potential for global unity and collective consciousness. Yet, it also examines the paradoxical intensification of divisions and distinctions that arise from cultural and societal differences.

Ab-Anbar Gallery has been a hub for contemporary art from Iran and now beyond, fostering a creative dialogue between artists, enthusiasts, and the wider public. The “Uncharted Echoes” exhibition embodies the gallery’s commitment to pushing artistic boundaries, featuring a diverse range of mediums that transcend conventional categorisations. Visitors to the exhibition will encounter a visual chronicle of the gallery’s evolution, spanning from the late 20th century to the present day, with a particular focus on the transformative first decades of the 21st Century.

“Uncharted Echoes” celebrates the legacy of Ab-Anbar Gallery’s artists and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead in the world of art. The participating artists in the group show are: Douglas Abdell, Marlon de Azambuja, Seyed Amin Bagheri, Sonia Balassanian, Majid Fathizadeh, Mohammad Ghazali, Fadia Haddad, Arash Hanaei, Taha Heydari, Shahrzad Kamel, Avish Khebrehzadeh, Timo Nasseri, Raha Raissnia, Neda Razavipour, Hessam Samavatian, Baktash Sarang and Nil Yalter.
