Gestures that must not be forgotten/3

At my arrival in Luzern during the Covid pandemic, I developed a series of three performances, which I called Gestures that must not be forgotten. In the performance Undo, together with the audience, I untangled a huge conglomerate of intertwined and knotted threads, ropes and cords.

GESTURES THAT MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN!

Sometimes simple actions have a big meaning in our lives. In these moments when we are moving away from each other, we put off for later the small actions that bring us closer to the others. We are confused. And in this confusion, we choose to keep our distance. But in time, we might forget these simple little gestures of tenderness, intimacy, attention, care and respect. What would the gesture be like, that brings people together while we keep our distance?

In a series of public performances, I have rehearsed, alone or with a counterpart, simple and intimate, repetitive and sincere gestures to remember them. So that the bond between us is maintained.
